Mateo will lead Nutrition Consulting for Standard Nutrition Services

Standard Nutrition Services announced that Christopher Mateo, DVM, MS, Ph.D. has been hired to lead the company’s nutrition consulting business effective October 1. Mateo, who has over 25 years of experience in animal nutrition and the agricultural industry, previously worked for Standard Nutrition Canada from 2009 to 2018, first as Director of Nutrition and then General Manager (Northern Region -Ouest) and finally as managing partner.

“I am delighted to join Standard and look forward to working closely with the nutrition advisory team to strengthen the partnerships with the growers we already serve, but also to help build new relationships with growers with which our company has not yet worked on,” Mateo said. “This is a great opportunity to serve a business and customer base that I already know. This role allows me to lead a team of talented professionals while using my knowledge of animal science and veterinary medicine in a hands-on role with producers and consultants.”

Mateo, who is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and holds a Masters and Doctorate in Animal Science, most recently worked as a Business Unit Manager for Pork, Poultry and Aquaculture at Zoetis-Canada in Montreal, Quebec. He also brings strong research and academic skills to this role, having led several different grant-funded studies and is also an accomplished author, trainer and presenter, particularly on swine nutrition. Mateo’s extensive experience will position him to impact strategic thinking and innovation as SNS strives to best support growers in an evolving marketplace.

“We are delighted to welcome Chris back to the company,” said Pat Joyce, President of SNS. “With his education, work experiences, industry background and passion for serving producers, Chris will play a key role in growing our business. I also look forward to seeing how he uses his experience to help to guide, support and further develop the talented team of nutritionists and consultants we already have in place.”
