Dare County Health & Human Services Provides Food and Nutrition Services Update

In January 2020, the federal government declared a public health emergency (PHE) due to COVID-19. For Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), the PHE enabled beneficiaries to receive the maximum allocation for their household size. Although we don’t know when the PHE will end, the USDA wants to help recipients understand the potential impacts and the steps they can take to be prepared.

People Receiving Food and Nutrition Services – What Should You Do Today?

  • Report all changes, including updated address and other information to the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Division of Social Services at 252.475.5500
    • Don’t miss important benefits communications – provide an up-to-date mailing address, phone number, and contact information to the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Human Services Division
    • Report any life changes to the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Division of Human Services as it may impact recipient coverage
  • Check your mail – the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Division of Human Services will send a notice if any information is needed. It is very important to respond if you are asked for information.

Maximum automatic COVID supplement payments are to end once the PHE is completed. You will continue to receive your regular monthly allowance from the FNS for the size of your household.
