BCPS Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor will participate in Bravo’s Top Chef Amateurs this Thursday


TOWSON, MD – A Baltimore County Public School employee will appear on a Bravo Network reality show this week.

Bettina Applewhite, senior operations supervisor at the Baltimore County Public School Office of Food and Nutrition, will take part in the “Top Chef Amateurs” episode airing this Thursday, August 12 at 9 pm.

Produced by Magical Elves, “Top Chef Amateurs” gives talented home cooks the opportunity to test their skills in the “Top Chef” kitchen. Fans are matched with various finalists, favorites and fan favorites of “Top Chef”. In each 30-minute episode, two amateur chefs compete against each other in some of the most iconic challenges from the “Top Chef” archives.

The winner of each episode receives $ 5,000 provided by sponsor Wells Fargo.

Applewhite is a registered dietitian, school nutrition specialist and food blogger. She received a BA in Chemistry from Hampton University and an MA in Integrative Biosciences with a concentration in Nutrition from Pennsylvania State University. She completed her dietetics internship at Tulane University.

Applewhite joined BCPS’s Office of Food and Nutrition Services in 2014 as a Field Representative and was promoted to her current position in 2015. Prior to working for BCPS, she worked in the private sector.
